ทพ.สุนทร อัศวานันท์ ได้รับเกียรติบรรยายเชิงวิชาการร่วมกับ ผศ.ทพ.ตระกล เมฆญารัชนานนท์ ในหัวข้อ Screw vs Cement - Retained Implant Prosthesis (Debate) ในงานประชุมวิชาการ Symposium on Esthetic Restorative and Implant Dentistry ที่จัดโดยคณะกรรมการพัฒนาหลักสูตรปริญญามหาบัณฑิตนานาชาติ สาขาทันตกรรมบูรณะเพื่อความสวยงามและทันตกรรมรากเทียม คณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ณ World Ballroom ชั้น 23 Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld เมื่อวันที่ 9 ตุลาคม 2550 ซึ่งมีทันตแพทย์จากภาครัฐ และเอกชนเข้าร่วมงานกว่า 450 คน นับเป็นปรากฏการณ์แรกในวงการ ทันตกรรมไทยที่ได้นำผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านรากฟันเทียม มานำเสนอเปรียบเทียบ ข้อดี-ข้อเสีย ระหว่างรากฟันเทียมระบบสกรูกับระบบซีเมนต์ ซึ่งเป็นประเด็น ที่ถกเถียงกันอย่างกว้างขวางในวงการทันตแพทย์ในปัจจุบัน
